Le jour du séisme is a novel written by Nina Bouraoui, a French-Algerian author. It centers on her childhood experience of an earthquake in her native Algeria. This presentation deals with some of the obstacles of translating this text from French to English, including issues of style, syntax, punctuation, and metaphor.
