Current School Health Screening Practices of Missouri School Nurses

Differences in health service offerings and nursing practice patterns have been noted, and it has been over a decade since the last survey of school health services policy and procedures in Missouri. The purpose of this study was to describe Missouri school health screening practices, quality assurance and referral protocols, and follow-up mechanisms for alignment with evidence-based best practices in Missouri public schools. The Missouri School Health Services On-line Survey, with questions in three areas: Screenings, Policy/Procedures, and Services was sent to over 500 lead school nurses in the state. Preliminary results will be presented and discussed in comparison to state guidelines and best practices.
