In the classroom, formative assessments are a quintessential part of student learning and it enables teachers to make adjustments within the classroom. In addition to formative assessment, self-assessment is a practice that all students and teachers should use to further their understanding of different concepts. The app “Plickers” enables teachers to integrate both formative assessments and self-reflection in the classroom anonymously in an engaging manner. The question is though, since the “Plickers” app in anonymous, does it encourage students to accurately reflect on their comprehension of different topics within the Language Arts classroom? This research sought to analyze students’ scores on formative assessment quizzes with their ranking of their level of understanding. Scores on quizzes and the self-reflection rating were analyzed. A negative correlation was found within the overall class data. These findings suggest that students were able to accurately self-reflect as indicated by their overall quiz scores.
