I grew up in a household of plus sized women as the only male of five and skinny at that. When I began college my body changed and I gained new context for the experiences of the women in my life. The work exhibits aspects of the human form I consider to be normal and even attractive yet when I see on myself I feel ashamed. When the women in my life expressed concern over their stretch marks or having to iron on patches where their thighs rubbed I couldn't fathom how they could see their bodies as anything but beautiful.
