The Assessment of the Small Mammal Community in the Spring Creek Watershed
The Missouri Department of Conservation is working to restore the Spring Creek Watershed in northeastern Missouri. The goal of my project was to assess the small mammal community in different habitats in the restoration area and compare spring and fall species compositions in 2022. In both seasons, we had restoration sites that were prairie, savanna, forest, and wetland habitats, and at each site 100 live traps were set. The most common species captured throughout the study site were Peromyscus leucopus and Reithrodontomys megalotis. We will report the survey results and compare the spring and fall small mammal composition.
