Creating a Multilingual True Crime Video in the Microstate of Andorra
The multilingual microstate of Andorra has a long history of peace and international relations, dating back to 1278 when it gained its unique co-prince parliament. The culture was agrarian, not gaining a highway until 1911. In 1943 with Franco in the west and Nazis in the east, the crime that shook the country was the fratricide of Antoni Areny Baró by his younger half-brother Pere Areny Aleix which resulted in the last public execution of the country. Shortly thereafter, the world discovered Andorra's white gold for ski slopes, and this tragic event was almost forgotten in the Pyrenees until the author Iñaki Rubio researched it for his best-selling 2021 book. This project explored the historic period and cultural significance to produce one of the first English sources on the event via video publication.
