Going in Circles to Solve Climate Change: An Analysis of the Circular Economy Model

Academics, politicians, and everyday people often point to industry as the source of environmental destruction and climate change. To reckon environmental harms with the immense prosperity and growth of the last two centuries, a new frame of thinking about economic possibilities and methods is needed. Emma Rohrbach and Dr. David Gillette explore the circular economy model to determine if it could provide a solution to meld together environmental and economic prosperity. They consider the relative successes and shortcomings of the circular economy. While the circular model has limits, it also has great potential. It cannot fix everything but it can provide helpful guidance to entrepreneurs, investors, and governments looking to reduce their environmental impact, or just boost their profits.
