The Intuition of Motion in Students and Athletes

Alexander G. Wheeler
Dr. Rasanjali Jayathissa, Faculty Mentor

Some level of intuition into the physics of motion is required to live and move around in this world. This project aims to determine if more knowledge of physics or athletic ability increases this intuition. The experiment is a practical test conducted on adults of similar age, intended to measure how well they are able to predict the motion of objects in real-life situations. It is paired with a short survey to assess the level of education they have received in physics, and their athletic experience. Performance on items on the practical test of different difficulty and complexity is compared to the survey results of the participants to analyze any correlations that may appear.
