Wounded Students and Trauma-Informed Instruction

Kate M. Marnati* and Rebecca E. Neihouse♦
Dr. Wendy Miner, Faculty Mentor

Students experience trauma. Educators need to know how to work with children who have experienced traumatic events. This study questioned what undergraduates, graduates, and teachers knew about trauma (wounds), signs of woundedness, typology of wounds, and the cycle of wounds. They also discussed how trauma can impact students. Trauma-informed instruction teaches people how to connect with wounded students and help them cope.
