DSLR Photometry and Light Pollution
In this talk we analyze the amount of light pollution in Kirksville by observing several stars with multiple DSLR cameras. We performed DSLR photometry by taking long exposure images of different stars and generating light curves using standard photometry software. We quantify the effects of light pollution by comparing data from different locations with varying degrees of light pollution. We quantified our measurements by analysing data taken from Urban,Semi-Rural, and Rural locations. We show that the quality of data are significantly better from darker locations than from those collected from locations with greater amounts of light pollution.
