A Climate Change Documentary or Horror Movie? A Textual Analysis of Documentary Music and its Influence on the Audience’s Perspective of Global Warming
This paper examines the use of non-diegetic sound among other tools used by directors in three documentaries made from 1990 to 2016, and which either intend to affirm or refute claims about global warming being caused by human action. Through textual analysis, this paper attempts to explain how sound, and in particular, music, is used to impact audience interpretation of each film’s thesis.
