Disability and Inequality: Transforming Attitude

Kayley N. Hagl
Dr. Hena Ahmad, Faculty Mentor

People with disabilities are people before their disability, yet they experience many inequalities. Discrimination stems from our society. Americans see people with disabilities as disadvantaged and as a result they are faced with more problems. Disability does not define an individual which has become evident as more and more groups are fighting for equality. They are doing this by distancing themselves from people with disabilities, rather than fighting to change the American perspective on “disability” as a whole.
