Mass Production of Ceramic Form through Mold Making
Leah M. Bowring

A potters wheel is a popular tool for an artist interested in producing unique ceramic forms that begin as round and symmetrical. They can then be altered to take them out of the round. Other methods of construction can prove to be more efficient when reproducing the same form. Plaster molds are a tool used for reproducing exact replicas of forms, especially those that are non-symmetrical or irregularly shaped. I am interested in using mold methods to construct utilitarian forms that are geometrical with an interesting interaction when stacked. I will explain the processes involved in a variety of mold techniques including two piece molds and slip casting.
