Awareness and attention to the eight domains of wellness is integral in maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle. When components of wellness are lacking, quality of life can be adversely affected. A six question survey was sent out through email using SurveyMonkey to all students at Truman State University and 224 responses were received. This survey assessed the students’ perception of availability and personal usage of on-campus resources promoting student success within the eight domains of wellness. It also identified additional barriers or resources. Students responded that mental and emotional wellness were of the most importance. The data shows a notable disconnect between students’ levels of knowledge regarding various areas of wellness and their confidence in putting that knowledge into action. Additionally, students reported perception of overly high expectations for academic performance and overall self-perceived poor mental health. Focus group questions were developed to discover the root causes of disconnects.
