This work is inspired by my semester-long theme looking into the cycles of life and death, and how they interact with each other. This piece focuses on the inevitability of death and decay, even after a fulfilling and meaningful life. The roots show long lines of history throughout this tree's life, but ultimately this gnarled stump has been pulled up out of the ground, the trunk has been cleanly sawed off, and it now sits in a dark void.
