Effect of Hamstring Flexibility on Two-Mile Run Times in Truman State University ROTC Program
Purpose: The purpose of this study to is determine the correlation between hamstring flexibility and two-mile run times. The following data were collected from each test subject: age, height, weight, sit-and-reach flexibility, straight-leg raise stretch and two-mile run time. Results: For this sample N=20, the correlation coefficient, r2, determined for sit and reach and two-mile run times is 0.296. The r2 for the left and right goniometer angle are as follows: 0.049 and -0.120. The r2 body mass index is 0.102. Conclusions: No significant correlation was found between two-mile run time against sit and reach, right and left goniometer angle, weight or body mass index in Truman State University’s ROTC program with a sample of twenty persons.
