Health Habits of Upperclass Truman State Students

Claire A. Robinson
Dr. Anton Daughters and Dr. Paul Shapiro, Faculty Mentors

How does collegiate life impact physical health? In the fall of 2018 I conducted an examination of the health habits and wellness of upperclass college students at Truman State University. Students were asked to report on their dietary, fitness, and sleep habits for an average week, the data collected from the survey administered to 150 students in the university population was analyzed to calculate a composite health score reflective of their day-to-day habits. Overall health and fitness of students determined them to be primarily unhealthy but no clear relationship could be drawn between any particular variables. This research is presented under the advisement of Professor Anton Daughters through the anthropology department at Truman State University.
