African American of Mass incarceration: The New Jim Crow
African Americans disproportionately represents one-third of those on probation. The mass incarceration of African-American males is part of a twenty billion dollar prison industry. “We have more work to do when more young black men languish in prison than attend colleges and universities across America,” Former President Barack Obama stated. This paper will analyze the effect mass incarceration in America has on black families as well as the school to prison pipeline. This paper will evaluate the causes of the mass incarceration of African Americans in jail as well as how they are affected by mass incarceration in society, as well the reason why it seems as if no one is doing anything to stop it.
