Unequal Childhoods: A Look at Race and Class within Family Dynamics

People are predisposed to certain outcomes in life during childhood. The different class, race, and specific family one is born into have significant influence on his/her experiences. Factors such as education, neighborhoods, and socioeconomic status fall under the previously mentioned categories. Stereotypes and social norms shape a certain mindset amongst different cultures. Family dynamics along with systematic oppression and circumstantial privileges also shape each unique perspective. This paper will take a look into the psychology, child development, and sociology of youth with contrasting backgrounds. The reader shall take away a more empathetic and clarified understanding of how and why people live different lives relevant to cultural variance.
