Discrimination Against International Students on the U.S. college campus

Globalization has opened up opportunities for students to study in many countries around the world. Among them, the United States is a country where many international students choose to study. These students go abroad for various reasons, such as seeking high-quality education, better employment opportunities, and language training. However, due to the discrimination that occurs on college campuses in the U.S., students from different countries struggle to adapt. This research aimed to examine how international students identify and respond to such experiences through qualitative, face-to-face interviews with four participants. Most of the interviewees reported experiencing various forms of discrimination on campus, both directly and indirectly, leading to hardships. However, international students acknowledged that these problems could stem from misunderstandings caused by cultural differences. In conclusion, this research suggests that experiences of discrimination are often rooted in cultural differences rather than race.
