Mastercard Valuation

Mitchel D. Hoffman*, Connor S. Baxley, and Parker C. Erickson
Prof. Charles Boughton , Faculty Mentor

This report analyzes Mastercard Inc.’s financial outlook, assessing qualitative and quantitative factors to estimate its future value. It examines core operations, competitive advantages, and revenue sources in the global payments industry. Key financial indicators such as revenue growth, profitability, and market valuation are reviewed alongside economic trends. Valuation methods, including discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis and industry comparisons, help determine Mastercard’s worth. Regulatory changes, technological advancements, and competition risks are also considered.

The financial services sector is expected to perform well in 2025, with credit services standing out due to rising interest rates. Banks lending at higher rates have boosted credit services stocks, and the resilient U.S. economy supports further growth. Mastercard’s attractive valuation and positive market sentiment make it a compelling long-term investment. Given the current macroeconomic climate, it presents strong potential for a 5 to 10-year holding period.
