Ovarian cancer is the 5th leading cause of death among women in the United States. With an absence of symptoms in the patients, most of the women are diagnosed in the late stages of the disease, which significantly lowers the survival rate. Traditional efforts aimed at identifying direct biomarkers for early detection have consistently fallen short. In this study, we take a new approach to better understand the tumor using metabolic pathways present in the tumor environment. Our findings not only highlight the current advancements in the field but also introduce pathways that could be used in the early detection of ovarian cancer. By highlighting these metabolic pathways, we introduce potential biomarkers for the early diagnosis of ovarian cancer, thereby opening avenues for timely intervention and improved patient outcomes.
