The purpose of this study is to identify the qualitative factors that impact students' perceived levels of wellness and determine if those factors change during college, specifically among two cohorts of participants. Researchers administered surveys to first-year students in both the fall 2020 and 2021 semesters. The same surveys were administered to the same cohorts of students two years later (fall 2022 and 2023). The open-ended survey responses were analyzed using a framework developed by two of the researchers. Preliminary results show in 2020, relational wellness was impactful in participants’ wellness journeys, comprising over half of the responses in both 2020 and 2022. Similarly, for the fall 2021 cohort, relational wellness comprised 60% of the responses in 2021 and roughly 40% of the responses in 2023.This presentation will address these responses, their relation to the areas of wellness, and the implications of these results for wellness programming on campus.
