Christianity's Effect on Individuals' Politics
Over the last 20 years, Christianity has become more aligned with conservative values. Interviews with five Christians from on campus organizations sought to study the effects that religion and politics played on each other. This study found that right-leaning Christians felt more secure in their religion, but also sought out their religion in times when their political views were not popular on a more liberal college campus. Left-leaning Christians experienced more strain on their religion and went through a period of questioning their religion based on the political beliefs of their churches. The issue of abortion played a massive role in the leaning of each of the respondents as well as LGBT issues being an important factor for left-leaning respondents. Each of them used their religious morals in order to decide which side of the political aisle was more suited for their views.
