A Preliminary Investigation into the Outsourcing of Information Systems Among Higher Education Institutions
Christina M. Klusman
Dr. Stephen Allen, Faculty Mentor
With the ever-present economic attitude of doing more with less, higher education institutions are struggling to meet information systems needs. The institutions have become saddled with burgeoning information systems budgets. As a consequence, there appears to be a trend in higher education to give up some control of its information systems in exchange for economic relief via the outsourcing of information systems. Presently, there is no benchmark data studying this apparent growing trend. A randomized selection of institutions of higher education will be selected to participate in an on-line survey. The chief information officer or similar will be emailed a brief explanation of the research with a link to participate in the on-line survey. The participants will also be invited to request the results of the research when completed. This research will establish benchmark information in the area of higher education outsourcing.
