A Slice of Pi

While pi was discovered over 2000 years ago, the proof of pi’s randomness still has not been solved. However, several statistical tests can be used to demonstrate that the digits of pi do appear to be a uniform sequence. Four tests will be used to test this hypothesis: the chi-squared goodness of fit test, the likelihood ratio test, the Durbin-Watson test and the BDSL test. Each test analyzes a different aspect of randomness in the sequences of the first 10,000 digits of pi.
