Segmentation and Internet Usage at Truman State University

Last year, a survey to Truman students reported that most base their choice of website (in recreational use) on what their friends use. The purposes of my project consisted of confirming the results of the prior survey and seeing if there is a common segment of Truman students who do not consider popularity to be important and thus are more likely to discover new Internet trends first. Additionally, the survey tried to see which website factors were most important to such a segment. With the aid of my faculty mentor, Dr. Nabil Alghalith, I developed an online eight-question survey and collected 108 responses. Demographic Factors tested include gender, grade point average, residency, and year in school. Website factors include Convenience, Design, Utility, and Accessibility.
