Female Gender Roles In Igbo Culture

I will present in-depth research I have conducted on the Igbo culture of Nigeria, West Africa, particularly the history of discrimation against women in this culture. In addition to outlining the ways in which Igbo women have been victimized I will point out that some progress has recently been made, and though gender representation in Igbo culture is still not equitable, Igbo women have made a number of acheivements. They have continued to campaign for the adoption of a genderless system where everybody will break free from barriers to the exercise of human rights. Given that Igbo women have attained relatively high political positions today in the face of grim surbodinations, one can rightly anticipate that gender discrimination will soon expire in Igbo society giving rise to a new society where everybody will enjoy absolute liberty. Obviously, a grand future is in the making for Igbo women were gender will be inconsequential in the decision making processes.
