Growth as Time Travel

Robin Kincaid
Prof. Danielle Yakle, Faculty Mentor

This semester, I explored how different felting techniques can express my ideas about identity growth and change. I have undergone a gender transition, pursued both trauma and family therapy, and stopped practicing Catholicism. My changes between child, teenager, and adult have been radical. I feel some connection to my past selves, but reflecting on my earlier years often feels like watching a completely different person. Some questions informing this body of work are: How do I hold all of these versions of myself in one body? What differentiates one phase from another? What are the ways a person can grow backwards, sideways, or non-linearly?
