Lighting Design - The 39 Steps: Abridged
The first show of Truman Theatre’s 2025-2026 season was “The 39 Steps: Abridged,” adapted by Patrick Barlow. In 1935, Richard Hannay is accused of a murder he did not commit, and he has to go on a journey through the Scottish highlands to catch the people who did it. I had the opportunity to be the Lighting Designer for the play. My design was influenced by film noir and the nostalgia of older TV shows from the 60s and 70s. My process started with research on these items and ended with a fully realized design by the time the show opened.
In January, I presented my work at the Design, Technology, and Management Expo at the American College Theatre Festival (ACTF). At this event, I was able to present my work to experts in my field and receive feedback from them.
