How Work-Life Balance Perceptions Impact Job Satisfaction in Athletic Trainers
Introduction: Athletic trainers face challenges with work-life balance due to varied schedules and personalized patient care; it can be difficult to prioritize a life separate from the job. This can impact job satisfaction and impact the future of the athletic training profession. Limited research exists regarding what practices lead to job dissatisfaction. This study examined the relationship between work-life balance and job satisfaction. Methodology: A mixed-methods survey was used to assess this relationship via athletic training media platforms. Results: Respondents reported having a positive job satisfaction rate (70%). A statistical significance was found between perceived fulfillment in work-life balance and job satisfaction (p=0.034). Conclusion: Perceived fulfillment in work-life balance leads to job satisfaction in the athletic training profession. Overall job satisfaction was positive, yet concerns regarding fair compensation, workload, and limited workplace initiatives were present. Findings indicate retention in the athletic training profession are related to job satisfaction and security.
