The Experiences and Expectations of Continuing Generation College Students (CGCS): A Research Proposal
Continuing Generation College Students are generally defined as students whose parents or legal guardians did not graduate college. Previous research has focused on quantitative factors that impact retention, academic achievement and other factors, leaving a gap in learning about the expectations and experiences of CGCS. This qualitative project uses semi-structured interviews to draw comparisons between two demographics, CGCS and non CGCS. While there is existing literature on the vast differences in the experiences of CGCS, more qualitative data is necessary to understand the full range of those experiences.
