These two photographs are taken from a larger body of work that explore the relationship between the my life as a queer person and popular culture. Hollywood and the internet informed a lot of my childhood, and I question if this relationship is mutualistic or parasitic. Even though LGBTQ+ people serve as inspiration to and are often innovators of popular culture, authentic representation of LGBTQ+ people lacks in our world today. Nonetheless, I am influenced by the entertainment industry and its idealistic standards of beauty, gender expression, and sexuality.
