Audition Showcase: Preparing for the Professional Theatre
Christianne A. Greiert* and Leslie D. Sikes
Dr. Becky Becker, Faculty Mentor

Our presentation is based on a Theatre 481 independent study structured to prepare potential actors for professional auditions. For the class we pick our own audition material, self-rehearse, and prepare several monologues or songs to perform during a weekly workshop with a faculty mentor. Due to this process, we, as student actors, become more aware of our strengths and weaknesses as performers and also become better acquainted with audition procedures. Our presentation will consist solely of two separate performances based on selections from our audition repertoire. Following the presentation will be a question and answer period exploring the work accomplished in the course as well as a discussion about professional prospects.
