Attitudes Towards the Amish: Survey Analysis and Revision

Lee F. Decker
Dr. Cory Anderson, Faculty Mentor

The Amish are a rapidly growing subculture in America. As they expand into new areas, it is important for planners and researchers to be able to accurately assess the about of prejudice directed towards them. This study seeks to improve on the current Attitudes Towards Amish scale developed by William McGuigan. Surveys are administered to the student population of Truman State University and then revised based on feedback from the sample. The revised survey is then administered to a new sample and the results are compared.
