Jamie C. McBurnett♦
Dr. Summer Pennell, Dr. Rebecca Dierking, and Dr. Linda Seidel, Faculty Mentors

This self-study focuses on a three week feminism unit in a high school American Literature class.  This research study found two improvement methods important to best practice. The first finding analyzes unit design in search of the most effective strategies for preparing students to understand and handle feminism. The second finding explores what can be learned about a specific teaching process by methodically examining student feedback, assignment products, and instructor preparation during a  unit at the end of a semester long internship. The results of the study include a description of the unit design, a summary of feedback and outcomes, and teacher learning that came out of participating in the self-study process.
