Le crépuscule des elfes by Jean-Louis Fetjaine, Translated by Céline Fuchs

Celine M. Fuchs
Dr. Sana Camara, Faculty Mentor

In a time when man lives side by side with elves, dwarves, gnomes and monsters, the murder of a dwarf king by an elf threatens the fragile peace between them.  The popular market for young adult novels and my personal interest in reading them led me to choose this fantasy YA novel for my capstone.  The story draws from Celtic myth and Arthurian legend, both of which were taken into account during the translation of a thirty page excerpt of the novel.  I used online sources, primarily an online dictionary and electronic copies of the French and English versions of The Lord of the Rings, due to the high fantasy aspects that appear in both works.  This novel has never before been published in English.  My presentation will consist of presenting parts of my work, what difficulties I encountered during the translation process and how I overcame them.
