Jane Austen: Origins of Young Adult Literature?

Jane Austen portrays many similarities of the modern day Young Adult Literature genre in her books, Pride and Prejudice and Emma. This paper will proceed to exploit those similarities' contribution to the current Young Adult Literature genre. These contributions include many tropes and themes such as parenting, character focus, and "love". These tropes will be compared and mirrored against modern day Young Adult books so that a stronger connection may be made.
