Synthesis of New Chalcone Sulfonamides and their Derivatives as Potential Pharmaceuticals

Several new sulfonamides were prepared that contain a heterocyclic substituted unsaturated ketone group, utilizing an aldol reaction as the key step. These new "chalcones" represent precursors to a variety of pharmaceutically relevant structures that can be prepared by further structural modifications.
