Mental and Physical Conditioning for Senior Citizens: A Case Study

Project description: Gammans facilitated an individualized mental and physical conditioning program for Mayme James, a local senior citizen. The intervention program goal was to help her maintain an optimal level of mental and physical well being. Twice-weekly one-hour session activities at her home were designed to exercise her perceptive, visuo-spatial, structuralization, logic, and verbal abilities. Discussion of to degree objectives were met: Mrs. James reported progressive improvements in her energy level, range of motion, and memory recall using a rating scale from 1-5 Implications for Health Education/ESG: The baby boomer generation is aging, and as the elderly population is growing, so is the need for innovative geriatric care.
