Determinants of Income Distributions in the United States 2010-2019

Jessica Rood
Dr. David Gillette, Faculty Mentor

My project recognizes trends in income distributions in the United States from 2010 to 2019. There is a clear trend, even regionally, in which the percentage of households in the lower income brackets are falling over time and the percentage of households in the top income brackets are increasing. My research investigates key variables such as education, family structure, economic freedom, median age, and population density on the percentage of households in both the top and bottom income brackets. The research also lends itself to current discussions of income mobility and policy recommendations.
