Migrant Worker Expectations and Reality:
The Case of a Small, Rural Midwestern Town
Justin L. Thomas
Dr. Terrance G. Gabel, Faculty Mentor
This exploratory study of a rural immigrant population identifies relationships between demographic variables, ethnic identification, and certain work goals and beliefs, as well as examines the extent to which these factors play a role in overall job satisfaction. Quantitative findings offer several significant interactions among variables, which are further supported through qualitative data analysis and interpretation. Additional qualitative data suggests the importance of further investigation into the use of ethnic identification in the context of human resource management.
