AIDS/HIV is becoming more and more of a medical, economic, moral, and political problem for sub-Saharan Africa. The purpose of this study is to understand and shed light on the important and dreadful topic of AIDS. Experts on AIDS/HIV hold that education can be an important weapon to stop its spread. This paper tests the effects of higher levels of general education in countries within sub-Saharan Africa on infection rate of AIDS. A regression analysis (OLS) is employed which analyzes 51 sub-Saharan Africa countries. Other variables held to impact the spread of AIDS are included in the model: type of government, amount of budget spent on health care, levels of migrant labor, levels of wealth, levels of urbanization, location within the sub-continent, and the predominant religions of each country.
