By cooperating with Ray Miller Elementary fifth-grade students to help them create a theatrical production, we are sharing with them our love of theatre. In an independent study, we have created a class that allows us to adapt scripts from two children’s books and teach the fifth-grade students about the different roles in theatre. By giving them the experience of working in the leadership and design positions of a theatrical production, they will have a sense of ownership of the final product and, hopefully, a better understanding and love of theatre. Our presentation will include a selected reading of the scripts and a description of our process and findings.
