A Photographic Study of Primary Forms
Mark B. Desmond
Prof. Priya S. Kambli, Faculty Mentor
My intention is to change the way everyday objects are viewed, to photograph known objects, abstracting them by concentrating on detail and capturing their primary forms. My motivation stems from moving to Kirksville from Seattle, which forced me to find aesthetic relevance in things other than the mountains surrounding the city. Key to this idea is the engagement of the audience with the subject matter. Each viewer is able to form a personal interpretation of the form, making it his/her own. By photographing everyday objects and elevating their status within society, the observer will be encouraged to reflect on the importance of the form and begin to see their world in a new light.
