Private Sector Worksite Health Promotion Programs in Missouri

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to describe the status of program administration, types of programs offered, and level of intervention in which program activities were offered in large and extra-large private sector worksite health promotion programs in Missouri. The study utilized a cross-sectional survey design. A 19-question Missouri Private Sector Worksite Health Promotion survey was administered to randomly selected large and extra-large private sector companies in Missouri. The employee most knowledgeable of the companys health promotion policies was identified and contacted via telephone to request participation. The survey was administered via email. Descriptive statistics were used to compare the survey data with previously administered national and state surveys and Healthy People 2010 objectives. The findings of the study were used to identify strengths and weaknesses in the delivery of worksite health promotion in Missouris private sector.
