Coping With the Experience of Breast Cancer

The fact that Breast cancer is a very common diagnosis, particularly in women, is a well known verity. However, the impact the disease has on the family of the diagnosed individual is often overlooked. This paper was written for my COMM 375: Rhetoric and Medicine course and incorporates both the scientific and narrative voice. Using this form of writing engages the reader by using a narrative to draw them in and scientific research to back it up. In this piece I have incorporated the voice of Isabel Gaeta (a young women whose mother passed away from Breast Cancer), and told the story of how she and her family coped with the experience while tying in research about the disease and backing the information with case studies that are closely related to her narrative.
