Multimedia: A Field in Review
Colette A. Linton
Dr. Marilyn Yaquinto, Faculty Mentor

This presentation covers the dynamics and the increased utility of successful and powerful forms of multimedia in the age of digital information dissemination. The information that follows in this discussion should give insight into current discussions surrounding journalism as a whole. The future implications of transformative events that have occurred recently are uncertain but, multimedia might have stemmed from a continued move towards interests in first-hand accounts and empowerment. Such considerations and elements that make multimedia appealing to consumers is important even for student produced products coming from the INDEX, News 36, and KTRM. This presentation makes use of contemporary examples of multimedia, produced by news outlets in the surrounding area, nationally, and internationally. Accompanying these examples are critiques discussing their effectiveness in storytelling ability.
