The relationship between music and emotion is intimate. Most people do not realize how much a harmonic progression or chord structure within a piece of music truly affects your overall state of being. This project will outline these connections. An informal test will be conducted and the results will be observed. Participants will listen blindly to classical works from various periods and complete a survey before and after demonstrating or denoting how they feel presently. The survey will consist of ten questions concerning the overall health and feelings of the participants. The participants will rate their current state before and after the listening portions with ranges from one to five, with one being tired or ill, three being neutral, and five being awake and energetic. The results will be measured to reveal the connections between music and emotion.
