Homeschoolers: Are They Unique Voters?

The purpose of this research is to determine differences between homeschooled (HS) and non-homeschooled (NHS) individuals with regard to their political views. Do homeschoolers have a unique voting pattern? A convenience sample of HS and NHS in Northeast Missouri completed an author-designed political survey. Chi-square analysis revealed that HS would vote significantly different from NHS on 20 of the 25 issues (80%). To test group homogeneity, the pattern of HS voting was compared to that of NHS. On 16 of the 25 issues, HS voted alike on 90% of them. On no issue did non-homeschoolers vote alike 85% or more. This research suggests that HS vote significantly more homogenously and significantly different from NHS. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that homeschooled individuals have a unique voting pattern.
